Unravelling the ERP Planning Paradox: Why Big ERP Vendors Fail Despite Data Dominance and Credibility
Have you wondered why some things that should be SO easy to do, aren’t?
Planning by ERP Vendors is one such mystery for me.
Please share your thoughts.
.. and a Happy Holi y’all!
p.s: If you are a Big ERP Vendor.. err.. bura na mano .. Holi hai !
Yesterday, Lora Cecere posted about how planning from ERP vendors is BAD for business.
Lora’s insight aligns with our experience.
And this is so counterintuitive.
After all, ERP has all the data.
Plus Big ERP Vendors have super creds regarding:
– Experience
– Industry Knowledge
– Technology Expertise
– Data Analysis
– Already have a list of clients ๐
In spite of this, planning implementations of Big ERP have bad results.
Some had to junk it.
Why ??
Some reasons why ERP planning may be bad for business could be:
Not understanding client workflows means that needs are not met
Not customizable enough limits effectiveness
Employees can’t believe that they have to do 10 things now to get a report which used to take 1 step
ERPs are stuck in 80s. Sorry.
Poor return on investment cause of high costs
But, what is your experience?
And your thoughts?
Do you feel that ERP vendors can do a good job of planning?
Would love to hear your thoughts..
